Monthly programs (September through May) are usually held on the second Tuesday of each month (please double-check the date to be sure) at 7pm next door in the Greece Town Hall, One Vince Tofany Blvd (Off Long Pond Rd, North of Latta Rd) 225-7221.

"The Gardener's Market"
June 14th, 2008

Greece Performing Arts Society will conduct their annual house tour with a special event at the Museum. It is called "The Gardener's Market". The store under the tent will offer beautiful handmade and natural garden items. Music will be provided for your listening pleasure. The Museum Exhibit Hall will not be open for tours that day, but the Gift Shop and the restrooms will be available.

Strawberry Festival and Annual Fund Raiser

4:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
On June 18th, is our famous Strawberry Festival and Annual Fund Raiser. This is a great picnic for everyone. Our luscious homegrown strawberries from Green Acres will be on homemade biscuits topped with whipped cream. All this is included for only $4.50! We'll have music to entertain you. If you are hungry for a picnic plate, we will have food and beverage booths offering low cost refreshments.
Inside we will have Museum tours, and the Gift Shop will be open.

"Comic Strips as Political Literature"

From Aaron McGruder's controversial Boondocks comic strip through Gary Trudeau's Doonesbury, back to the 19th century beginnings of visual punditry in daily newspapers, serial cartoons became a unique social commentary form. Familiar strips such as The Katzenjammer Kids, Steve Canyon, and Beetle Bailey are long-read sources of entertainment, but they are also propaganda media. This lecture highlights major comic artists and explores the ideologies behind their use of language and pictures for cultural critique.

Warren Kling is a native Rochesterian and local historian specializing in the early pioneer history of Rochester. He has written and published a number of articles on pioneers of the area and has a large collection of images which are used to illustrate his slide presentations. He will discuss his latest book “America’s first Boom Town”
